Room N - Photography

Room audio presentation ( Click on the play arrow to start the presentation )
This room has the atmosphere of a photography studio in the early 1900's. Recreated in every detail, the studio recalls an era when families were separated for long periods and the photographer’s prints were an important link to their distant relatives. The fascinating old wooden box cameras, utilizing early glass plate imaging, were used at the dawn of modern photography. One of the cameras in this collection uses a system of lenses and mirrors that is so complex that we aren't certain how it works. On the left side of the room, your eye is drawn to a number of old cameras and several photographs marked with the logos of early Cuggiono studios. Even the sheepskin used for traditional photographs of newborn babies is preserved here.
