In our village museum, a room dedicated to music is a must. The existence of musical bands in Cuggiono is well documented as early as the beginning of the 19th century. Early photographs help us identify uniforms and instruments, some of which are exhibited here. The trumpets, trombones, tubas, clarinets, saxophones, and drums now displayed in these cases were once used to create beautiful and entertaining music in the streets of Cuggiono. Bands were an important part of religious and political events, and were even involved in funeral services. These instruments, accompanied by guitars and accordions, were used by small bands and musical groups to bring an added measure of cheer to village festivals and weddings. Some of the photographs here depict the 1959 centennial celebrations commemorating the Battle of Magenta. Some of our older citizens still remember Cuggiono resident, Giorgio Ivaldi, who was a master pianist. In 1997, Sr. Ivaldi donated the piano which made him famous to our Museum.
